At Fain Dental Arts, we offer a wide array of cosmetic and esthetic dental services that we can combine to create your smile makeover.

You may be surprised to find out that all you need is a professional whitening treatment to restore your bright, youthful appearance. We are pleased to offer KöR whitening, a state-of-the-art treatment at our North Miami dental office that delivers permanent results that are about 16 shades brighter.

Many minor flaws like chipped teeth or old, discolored fillings can be corrected by using natural-looking dental composite to perform cosmetic dental bonding. This is a conservative and affordable process that’s simple enough to allow us to perform several repairs in just one visit.

Porcelain veneers are another popular option for concealing flaws or completely altering the shape of a tooth to improve its appearance. We can place one or two veneers, or we can design a full set for a complete smile makeover.

You may not think of restorative services like esthetic crowns, Invisalign, or tooth replacement as cosmetic, but they all enhance your appearance while protecting your oral health.

As you can see, there are all sorts of possibilities, and the right solution for you may be a lot less complicated than you think. Please call Fain Dental Arts to arrange your smile consultation!

Emergency Dentistry

Cracked or broken teeth are dental emergencies that should be treated as soon as possible, so please call Fain Dental Arts right away to let us know what’s happening. We’ll get you on our schedule right away, usually the same day.

  • Rinse your mouth with warm water to keep the area clean
  • Reduce swelling and pain by using a cold compress on the affected side.
  • Avoid chewing in the area of the cracked tooth to prevent further damage.
  • Gather any tooth fragments and bring them with you to your appointment.

Seeing us right away is crucial if you want to prevent further damage to the tooth that may require more costly and complicated treatment to correct. In many cases, our Miami dentists can save a cracked or broken tooth with additional procedures like placing a crown to protect it. If the crack is severe or if the tooth hurts, other treatment may be required.

At Fain Dental Arts, we make your emergency a priority. We are open five days a week and have extended morning and evening hours on Tuesdays, and we always reserve time in our schedule for emergency appointments. Please call us so we can provide the relief you need!

There are numerous reasons why a filling might fall out. It may be that it is cracked or that the tooth has developed further decay beneath it.

A lost filling is not typically an emergency where you have to drop everything to come to our office, but you should make an appointment to see us as soon as possible. Leaving the tooth exposed for too long can lead to additional damage, and you may experience pain and sensitivity to pressure and extreme temperatures.

We will get you on our schedule as soon as possible, usually the same day if you are in pain. Any pieces of the filling that remain will need to be removed, and a new restoration put in its place. Depending on the condition of the remaining tooth structure, our doctors may recommend a dental crown to strengthen the tooth further and protect it from additional damage.

Please do not hesitate to call us at (305) 891-2621 if you have any type of dental emergency in North Miami. We are open five days a week and have extended morning and evening hours on Tuesdays, so there’s a good chance we can see you right away.

Wisdom teeth are a throwback to ancient times when our ancestors needed a lot of chewing power to navigate a rough diet of twigs, bark, and nuts.

However, our jaws have gotten smaller over time, and today most adults don’t have enough space for wisdom teeth to erupt properly. This causes crowding which puts the alignment of neighboring teeth at risk. And because wisdom teeth are so far back in the mouth, proper hygiene is difficult or impossible. When you can’t clean wisdom teeth thoroughly, it puts you at a greater risk for decay and gum disease.

Since wisdom teeth no longer serve a practical purpose, and because they typically cause more trouble than it’s worth to keep them, extraction is often the best solution.

If you need a tooth extraction in Miami, you can trust the team at Fain Dental Arts to provide you with the gentle, compassionate care you need. If anxiety is an issue for you, you’ll be pleased to know that we offer comforting nitrous oxide sedation.

Don’t let problematic wisdom teeth threaten your oral health. Please call our office so our doctors can evaluate your situation and let you know if extraction is in your best interest.

General Dentistry

We like to start seeing children at age six, but we are always happy to see your younger child if you have a concern.

At this age, your child has most of their baby teeth, making it a perfect time to start monitoring their development. Baby teeth may seem unimportant since they will come out anyway. But these have several important jobs – they act as a guide for permanent teeth that will follow, they allow your child to start eating solid foods, and they aid in proper speech development.

In addition to monitoring your child's oral health, these early visits help your child get used to being in a new environment filled with strange-looking machines and unfamiliar faces. Our first goal is to create such a positive and enjoyable experience for them that they see dental visits as an exciting adventure.

We will never attempt to treat a child who is not ready because this will only result in further anxiety for them. If we find your child is having difficulty sitting still, we may refer you to a pediatric dentist whose office is specially equipped to address children’s unique needs.

If your child is ready for their first visit or you have concerns about their oral health or development, please call Fain Dental Arts to arrange a time to stop by and say hello!

At Fain Dental Arts, our goal is to preserve the structure of your smile by ensuring that all your teeth stay healthy.  Tooth extraction, in general, is never our first choice, but wisdom teeth come with their own set of problems, frequently making removal the best solution.

If you wonder what wisdom teeth do, the answer is that they no longer serve any real purpose. Also known as third molars, they are a leftover from ancient times when our ancestors had to consume coarse foods like leaves, twigs, and seeds. Wisdom teeth provided the extra chewing surface needed to grind up these foods.

But today, with access to processed foods, we don’t need all that chewing power. And since wisdom teeth are far back in your mouth, it can be difficult to clean them thoroughly, which can result in decay or gum disease. Finally, our jaws have gotten smaller, so wisdom teeth often don’t have room to erupt correctly. They can cause crowding of neighboring teeth, or worse yet, wisdom teeth can become stuck (impacted) in your jaw.

For these reasons, we generally recommend removal of wisdom teeth before they create problems. Our highly skilled and experienced dental team can perform the great majority of wisdom tooth extractions here at Fain Dental Arts, but we will refer you if we think a specialist would be appropriate for your needs.

If you are concerned about your wisdom teeth, please call North Miami dentist Dr. Sylvan Fain to arrange a convenient appointment.

TMJ stands for temporomandibular joint. These are the joints on either side of your head that connect your jaw bone to your skull. It’s a complex joint that allows for the up and down and side to side movements of your lower jaw. If you place your fingers in front of your ears and open and close your mouth, you can feel the TMJs at work.

When this joint is painful or not functioning correctly, it’s called TMD or Temporomandibular Joint Disorders. Jaw pain can be the result of an improper dental bite, teeth grinding and clenching, stress, or recently completed dental work.

Before we determine which treatment is appropriate, our doctors will need to perform a thorough examination to pinpoint the source of your jaw pain. Based on their findings, they may recommend additional treatments like a night guard that takes the pressure off the TMJ while you sleep.

If you have TMJ pain, please call our North Miami dental office. We recommend you make an appointment as soon as possible so we can pinpoint the problem and determine which treatment can alleviate your symptoms. Before you get to our office, you may find relief by taking over-the-counter pain medications like ibuprofen, applying warm compresses, and massaging sore jaw muscles.

Porcelain Veneers

We offer no charge cosmetic consultations, virtual consults using Skype or Facetime, or send us a picture of your smile and we can give you some ideas on what is possible.

This depends on what your goals are for your smile improvement. We offer complimentary cosmetic consultations and virtual consultations.

Bad breath is caused by bacteria. If you brush and floss your veneers, they will not give you bad breath. The veneers are bonded directly to your tooth and there is no gap that can accumulate bacteria.

We can place Lumineers or no-prep veneers if you are concerned about drilling your teeth, but there are limitations. Typically porcelain veneers involve the removal of a very small amount of tooth structure in order to accommodate the thickness of the porcelain so that the teeth do not appear too thick and bulky.

The cost depends on the current health of your teeth, what your current smile looks like, the current and desired color, how many teeth are being treated, your bite relationship and alignment of your teeth, whether the veneers are going to match natural teeth or existing crowns, the gum health, the type of porcelain used, the skill and training of the dentist and the skill and artistic ability of the laboratory technician. Most patients in our office pay between $1,000 to $2,000 per tooth.

We strive to achieve the highest cosmetic result by using the highest quality materials. Take a look at our before and after pictures to see how natural porcelain veneers can look. Poorly fabricated veneers can look fake. While it may be tempting to find a dentist offering the lowest price, this can be a serious mistake.

If the veneers are placed by a skilled dentist they will not damage your teeth or your gums.
