Here at Fain Dental Arts, our goal is to provide you with the highest standard of dentistry possible. One of the ways we do this is by keeping up to date with all the latest advances in techniques, materials, and technology that make your visits efficient, comfortable, and stress free.

If you haven't visited a dental office in a while, you may be pleasantly surprised to see how our state-of-the-art technology can change the way you feel about seeing the dentist. Please take a moment to learn more about the technology we offer and how it can benefit you, then give us a call to see for yourself the difference it makes in your dental care!

Digital X-Rays

Many of our patients are understandably concerned about their exposure during dental x-rays. At Fain Dental Arts, we have chosen to invest in state-of-the-art digital x-ray technology that minimizes your exposure by as much as 90% compared to film x-rays.

Digital x-rays offer lots of other advantages, too. Instead of bulky x-ray film that can be uncomfortable to hold in your mouth and often results in repeat exposures to get a clear picture, digital x-rays use flat digital sensors. Since they're flat, they fit more easily in your mouth, and their rounded edges won't poke into tender tissue.

We also use digital x-rays as an educational tool. Within moments of taking the image, we can share it with you on your chairside monitor. Just like any digital image, our doctors can zoom in on specific areas and enhance the image to show you exactly what the problem is and why we need to treat it. Your digital images are stored on our secure in-house network, making them easily accessible for reference or to send to specialists and insurance companies.

3-D Cone Beam Imaging (CBCT)

When planning procedures like dental implant placement, root canals, and tooth extractions, we need to obtain a clear image of all the structures of your mouth. At Fain Dental Arts, our dentists use cutting-edge 3-D digital imaging and Cone Beam Computerized Tomography (CBCT) to obtain these images.

The images reconstruct a 3-D image of your mouth that includes quality and quantity of bone in your jaw, the orientation of tooth roots, and the location of nerves, sinuses, and blood vessels. Knowing where these anatomical structures are located makes planning procedures more straightforward and comfortable and results in more favorable long-term outcomes.

Itero Digital Impressions

At Fain Dental Arts, we are always on the lookout for new technology that makes your visits easier and more comfortable. If you have ever had to sit for a dental impression, you know that it is a messy, uncomfortable process; a gooey impression paste is placed inside a metal tray that you have to bite down on until the material sets.

In our modern dental practice, we have an entirely new way of gathering necessary information. Rather than relying on conventional x-rays and messy impressions, we utilize state-of-the-art 3-D technology. Our Cadent Itero digital impression system provides us with the in-depth structural data needed to complete dental treatment while giving you a more comfortable and expedient diagnostic process.

Using the Itero system, we not only eliminate the need for uncomfortable putty impressions but also achieve the best possible fit for crowns, bridges, and veneers.

Itero is ideal for most patients, especially if you tend to feel anxious in the dental chair. Without the need for traditional impressions, you don't have to worry about gagging. And since we use digital scanning instead of pliable material, there is no waiting time. In just a few minutes, the Itero system creates an exact replica of your oral anatomy.

Itero digital impressions are comfortable, extremely precise, and very safe. The system operates using visible light, which means our patients are not unduly exposed to radiation. Also, because this system is so precise, you will spend less time in our office and more time showing off your beautiful smile.

Intraoral Cameras

One of the most effective ways we can help you achieve your oral health goals is by sharing information with you. Intraoral cameras are a high-tech piece of equipment that allows us to share real-time images of your teeth on a chairside monitor.

The camera is about the size of a pen so it fits comfortably in your mouth. At the same time, the captured images are displayed in close-up view so you can observe them along with your doctor. Viewing a real-time image of your mouth lets you be an active participant in planning your treatment.

Nitrous Oxide

If you postpone or avoid dental appointments because of anxiety, your oral health will suffer. At Fain Dental Arts, we know that the fear of dental visits can be overwhelming, and we want to help.

In addition to the attention of a caring dental team, we also offer nitrous oxide sedation for our nervous patients. Nitrous oxide is the mildest form of sedation, but it offers big benefits.

Nitrous oxide is a gas that is mixed with oxygen and delivered through a small nasal mask. As soon as you start breathing normally, you will feel the calming effect wash over you. You won’t go to sleep, but you will feel mildly euphoric and detached from the noise and activity around you.

When your procedure is finished, we cut the nitrous oxide and allow you to breathe pure oxygen for a few minutes. Our busy patients choose nitrous oxide because it leaves no drowsy after-effects, and after your appointment, you will be able to go about your normal daily activities.
